2023: #RoyalRumble, As Masha, Adele, Oyekan struggle to replace Eshinlokun

Lagos Island Constituency One is currently experiencing what could be seen as a #RoyalRumble; as Two Princes and a Princess are making moves to replace their Older Cousin, Right Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni, the Deputy Speaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

While the Deputy Speaker is making moves to become the next Senator, representing Lagos Central, a former Member of the House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Hakeem Masha; a Labour Leader, Prince Taofeeq Abolaji Adele; and a daughter of the demise Oba of Lagos, Oba Adeyinke Ayinde Oyekan, Princess Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon and few others are making moves to the better replacement.

The ‘Blueblooded’ Aspirants are contesting under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Hon. Hakeem Masha lost his second term bid to the Deputy Speaker, who was the Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, while Masha was representing the constituency at the State assembly.

Masha, like the Deputy Speaker, is a descendant of Eshinlokun Royal family of Lagos.
The Member of the 7th Assembly felt this is the best time for him to return to the Assembly, as his Older Cousin, who denied him a second term, is steping ahead to the Senate.

The ‘Beware of Deciet’ (Sorafetan) crooner has purchased the forms, and making consultation and visits to APC stakeholders in and around Lagos Island.
Hakeem Masha, widely known as HAMA, believe he had the experience to offer better representation to the good people of Lagos Island Constituency One.

His Cousin and a good political and public affairs enthusiasts pend “I strongly support his candidacy based on his experience and commitment to good governance“.

Nothing that his “decision to run is borne out of my unrestrained commitment to serve, HAMA stressed that ” as a product of our age-long collective struggle for democracy, equity, liberty and social justice, I do solemnly believe that our dearest LAGOS ISLAND CONSTITUENCY 1 requires a virile, dynamic, proactive, morally upright and politically matured and experienced person to move the constituency to a greater height.

Another (Iganran) Prince, Taofeeq Abolaji Adele is a descendant of the Ologunkutere Royal House.
Prince Abolaji Adele is Legislative Practitioner, who began his professional career at the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2001 as a Legislative Officer and where he has presently risen to become an Assistant Director on Legislative Matters.

His experience at the Assembly is expected to be an advantage for him.
Promising the people of Lagos Island Constituency One hope in the face of a good representation, the Labour leader pledged to melt “the barriers between the Constituents and their Representatives.

Findings showed that Adele is receiving nods from some GAC Members.

Also, Princess ‘Lara Oyekan-Olumegbon is the daughter of the immediate past Lagos Monarch, Late Oba Adeyinka Oyekan. She is also the wife of the demise Chief Fatai Lawal-Olumegbon, (Olumegbon of Lagos and Ajah).

Oloori ‘Lara Olumegbon is using #Akorede2023 has a way of returning goodies that come with dividend of democracy to his Constituents- if elected to represent them at the 10th Assembly of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

She believes her knowledge of Sociology (First Degree) and International Relations and Strategic studies coupled with experiences garnered from the private sector give her edge over her Cousins – Masha and Adele!

Findings by Eko Herald show that Masha (HAMA) and Adele are more connected in Lagos Island Politics than Oloori Omolara.

While Masha is more active in Lagos Island Politics – at least he had represented the Constituency at the 7th Assembly, Adele (PAAAT) is more connected in Isale-Eko, as a former Zonal Chairman of the Isale-Eko Woro Association; and he remains an active stakeholder in the Association. Princess Lara is said to had long disconnected with her roots, Isale-Eko!

Some Analysts, who are connected with Lagos Island Politics, felt Masha would have advantage over his Cousins because he had lost his second term bid for Eshinlokun-Sanni, the Deputy Speaker.
Meanwhile, some felt losing the bid to Eshinlokun, Masha was not around to prove his loyalty and acceptance of the Deputy Speaker’s candidature. In lieu of this, he can not benefit it now.

Meanwhile, Princess ‘Lara is said to be making meticulous consultations to stakeholders, who can guarantee and assure she got the ticket at ease.
Her brother, Prince Ifalade Ajasa Oyekan is the GM of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency and this is expected to give her an advantage to get the APC Ticket.

Also, monitoring by Eko Herald shows that Masha (HAMA) and Adele are more active on Facebook; Princess Omolara is in charge of the Instagram.

Some politicians are studying the reaction of Right Hon. Eshinlokun to forecast his preferred successor, but the Deputy Speaker is being smart and democratic with his decision.
